The Heriot-Watt academic community, our alumni and our partners are coming together to help develop our vision and ambition, a new strategy for our university.
Strategy 2025 will be developed in three phases:
- Our Global Conversation – looking at trends and issues and generating
ideas for our future - Our Chosen Direction – focussing on synthesising our ideas and selecting
the future direction - Our Global Ambition – formalising and launching our new strategy
Our Global Conversation is an opportunity to understand better current and future trends shaping global higher education, and the implications of those trends for our future development. These along with your ideas and suggestions will underpin the development of our strategy and inform the university’s strategic priorities. We will explore and answer questions like how to deepen and develop our global learning and global student experience, and in what areas of research can we contribute best to meet societal challenges. It will include a series of interviews, workshops, forums and blog posts from April through August 2018, online and across all our campuses.
From September to December 2018, we will establish Our Chosen Direction. We will gather and evaluate all the inputs to help us begin to develop a unique path for Heriot-Watt, shaping and testing our strategic priorities and goals. We will also develop the objectives and metrics that will help us to deliver our plan and measure our success.
We plan to have a draft strategy framework ready for review in September 2018, with an approved plan by December 2018.
Our Global Ambition: Strategy 2025 will be formally launched in January 2019. A programme of activities and engagement with key stakeholders will ensure our strategy and plan is understood and embraced by our academic community, our alumni and all our partners.
